Pursuing a new relationship.

Everyone has flaws—no one is perfect no matter how much you see & “know” that person.

Before the bills & a house full of kids, we were just two kids in college. Falling in love wasn’t on our mind, but a friendship began to  develop over time. We began running in the same circle, sat at the same lunch table. Bumped into each other at the gym after basketball practices, & games.

I remember the first time I felt my heart skip a beat when Anthony came around. The exact time, & date it took place. You see, I’ve been single for almost two years & wasn’t looking for a relationship. I was content honestly with who I was. I would always tell my friends I was married to Jesus.

Well Anthony came out of no where. Surprised myself that my heart was even acting like that lol I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just infatuated & lost all touch of reality because it happens. I was crushing hard & just remember how happy it made me feel knowing that this man honored & respected my decision to wait until marriage. No questions asked, just said I respect that in his very calm manner voice.
But even though I felt like my heart was set on Anthony, I had to remind myself of a few things that we tend to forget when pursuing a new relationship—Infatuation. Things we overlook because we become blinded by an intense passion or admiration.

Through experience here are some things I encourage you to be mindful of: •Don’t ignore red flags. Our family & friends see/feel things we can’t. •Let him/her know from the jump your standards. Don’t feel ashamed to share what is important to you. •If he/she don’t respect your values, they don’t deserve you, nor worth your time. •Establish boundaries & don’t  lose sight of important responsibilities. •Please don’t neglect your friends.

•Everyone has flaws—NO one is perfect no matter how much you see & “know” that person. •Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal things to you. Feelings can be tricky. Know some people aren’t always sent by God. Some may come as a distraction. • Above all else, guard you heart, mind, spirit, & body. You’re special & sacred.
