Understanding Differences.
God knew what he was doing when he gave me someone so different than me.
When we met, we were both 20. Unsure about us, we knew a friendship was bound to happen. We got to know each other. Learn from each other. Study one another. There wasn’t a rush or anything forced between us. It came naturally. Even though we were nothing alike. Different upbringing, personalities, & complete opposites. We still gravitated towards each other.
Maybe it was his spirit that I felt the Holy Spirit or his confidence when he walked in the room. There was a connection. It didn’t make sense seeing we were so different, yet it drew us closer than ever. Funny enough, we balance each other well. I’m an extrovert x1000 & he’s an introvert. I’m a morning person, he not so much. An adventurer, a bit wild, & he, complete calm to my storm. Most chill person I ever met. God knew what he was doing when he gave me someone so different than me.
It is said opposites attract & I believe it. I’m living it. I truly believe it’s beautiful getting to understand our differences. I learn so many new things from him & each year it’s like I keep discovering new quirky habits & personality traits he didn’t have before & I will continue studying him. Letting it known that I care about the very things that make him smile big.
You see, differences aren’t always bad as people make them to be. Is it always easy? Definitely not. When you show that you’re willing to learn/ understand each other, it makes it fun for the both of you. It creates a chemistry that produces passion. So if you have an opposite in your life, get to know what makes their heart joyful. What makes them light up when you mention that very thing. Discover differences that you can learn to love. Or at least let them know you are trying & care about their dreams, passions, & goals. Stay studying each other. It’ll never get old. You’ll find so much beauty in the differences when you take time getting to know them.
