Create the family you dreamed of, the family you are prayed for.

When I used to dream of having a family of my own, I would think of all the things I longed for as a child/young adult. I wanted my family to feel safe, protected, & loved within the arms of each other. I prayed for a dwelling place that was filled with peace & healthy communication. A marriage that represented God & full of affection. I longed for all that growing up, desired for stability, healthy boundaries. Now I have that & I thank God daily for all the things I was able to heal through & process so I wouldn’t replicate those behaviors in my household. I refused to be the person to say, because this is all I know, or my mom & dad was like this, I too had to do the same. I refused to let myself play victim.

My husband & I both work hard to be intentional with each other & our son. We go on dates together, have family movie nights often, play at the park, take him on trips, etc. He will know that no matter, this family has time for him. Even though he is probably too young to know what’s going on, I truly believe this is setting the tone for his upbringing, a ripple effect for his own family one day. 

We are imperfect humans & don’t get it right all the time, I can say, we do a dang good job not letting our busyness with life, keep us from being present & not living our lives with purpose. Life is precious. Family is everything. No day is ever promised as we’ve all felt this last week. We know how valuable the time we do have with each other is special. Let your family know how important they are to you. Create the family you dreamed of, the family you are prayed for. You can have that & more. You have the power to set the tone in your household, in your marriage, in the way you speak over yourself.💛
